The Cabin was deserted
BY Madeleine DeJesu

Chapter 1
Scary Night
During Halloween my friends and I decided to go in the woods to get scared. All of us decided to go around 11p.m to about four in the morning. When we left it started to get foggy and the fog was so thick that you couldn’t see five feet in front of you. The temperature started to drop and it was about thirty five degrees outside by then. As we walked further in to the woods and noticed a deserted cabin.
The cabin looked like it hasn’t been occupied for at least twenty years. When we got closer it was filled with ivy that had taken up most of the cabin. The windows were broken and the door was hanging off the hinges. The yard was filled with weeds and it look like there used to be a nice garden but the plants were all dead. Whenever you step on the stairs or on the floor you would hear a creek. You also heard there scurrying of either mice or raccoons coming out of the cabin and coming out of the floor boards.
Chapter 2
Going Inside
My friend Dan suggested that we go inside. My friend Stefanie said yes with much enthusiasm and another one was kind of timid when we got inside it looked as if the owner got up and left. It smelt like dust and like something had died. The couch had at least twenty years layer of dust and it was leaning to one side. There were cobwebs everywhere on the chairs, the picture frames, and on the floor. So there was no place to sit. We looked on more and found a room filled with old pictures and old moth eaten clothes that dated back to the forties or fifties. You see the kitchen with an old refrigerator along with the stove and the washer for your clothes. In the room we found an old dresser that had everything hanging out of it. I saw what looked like a diary and I opened it to find that it was actually someones diary. The diary was falling apart and the cover was brittle. I opened the diary and found out that an old World War 2 veteran used to own the cabin. He wrote in the diary about how it was when he came back from war. It turned out that his fiancĂ© thought that he died in battle and she moved on and went to go marry someone else. When he returned home he didn’t find her there and was heartbroken. He never moved and he lived in the cabin all alone and no one there to keep him company. That is the sad story of the deserted cabin.
